Lipika Sen and Prabhjyot Majithia are contemporary international artists and conceptualists, based in New Zealand and India. Creating conceptual multi-dimensional, interactive art experiences, their empathetic works engage the viewer into a zone of wonder, psychological relief, play, delight, and stories that may become deeply personal for the viewer, while addressing wider concerns of social, environmental and mental wellbeing.

Their landmark steel and acrylic kinetic sculpture, the 6 meter tall  “Firkee Wala – In My Heart Of Eternal Childhood” can be seen spinning and twirling with the winds at the Puke Ariki Museum sea-front, New Zealand, permanently erected by the Art in Public Places Trust, New Plymouth: http://youtu.be/jNLG9ZUW8H4. The artists have recently returned from an immersive Art Residency at the Belgadia Palace, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, India with new works to be exhibited in shows across India and New Zealand (2019- 2020). Their limited edition sculpture “The Rainbow Flautist” was featured at the India Art fair 2017, having shown earlier at a major sculpture show in NZ.

Creating together for almost 17 years, the artists have a background in advertising (Lowe Lintas, India) and much like their interactive sculpture, “Jugalbandi in the Park” at NZ Sculpture on Shore 2016: https://youtu.be/NyrWIld4pEQ , (also part of the Kaipara Sculpture Gardens Trail 2019, along with the large scale outdoor interactive installation Slapsticks - NZSOS 2018)  they create in spontaneous synchrony, often despite errant time-zones or geography. Their multi-dimensional works include sculpture, acrylic on canvas, digital drawings, words, sound, music & film and they have won several awards for their virals/ animation films. Invited to Ted X Tauranga for their signature Tricky Box series of experiential art installations with the Tricky Box 8 that has toured major art shows: NZ Garden and Arts Festival & Tauranga Arts Festival, galleries like Creative Tauranga, music festivals like Sundaise, Waihi and Earth Beat Auckland and art/ story-telling workshops across New Zealand. Recently commissioned by Tauranga’s Christmas in the Park was the 4.5 meter high sculptural Tricky Box Tree of Giving: https://youtu.be/0OUGFekSs_s. Now acquired by Tauranga Sculpture Park: The Tricky Box 5 – The Curious Indian Water Well:http://youtu.be/HYZrIPge13s was featured at the NZ Sculpture on Shore 10th Biennale (2014) & the Hamilton Garden Arts Festival 2016. The artists were commissioned for “The City” - an original mural by the Tauranga City Council, New Zealand. Their other shows include the National Fieldays No. 8 Wire Art Awards 2014, Waikato Museum and the “Making Sense” exhibition 2015, Whakatane Museum, Aotea Gallery, Auckland, Arparna Caur Gallery, New Delhi, Art Indus Gallery New Delhi the NZ High Commission New Delhi, amongst others. Aside from Public Art commissions, the artists have also been engaged as collaborative artists by Spark- one of New Zealand’s largest telecom companies.

Prabhjyot has a BFA (Delhi College of Art) and Lipika a BA with English Honours (Lady Sri Ram College, New Delhi) and a Masters in Linguistics (Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi).
